DESCRIPTION OF CLINICAL PRACTICE
How can we live a spiritual life that is emotionally healthy--not bypassing our feelings and human longings but engaging with them skillfully? Being free doesn't mean free from feelings, but being free to welcome our feelings without fear, shame, or aversion--and hearing what they might be trying to tell us. Meditation and mindfulness cultivate intimacy with ourselves, which connects us with others and life itself.
Through a warm and engaging style, I create a safe place to help individuals and coupes move toward greater freedom, peace, and intimacy. Bringing a gentle spacious awareness to the subtle flow of inner experiencing allows a more gentle relationship with feelings and longings, which leads to more equanimity an a greater ability to express our feelings in non-shaming ways that build trust and invite contact.
I have been practicing Vipassana since 1974, attending my first ten day retreat with Jack Kornfield, Joseph Goldstein, and Sharon Salzberg in 1975. I was also a contributing editor and writer for Yoga Journal for ten years.
