The careful attention to your specific history and challenges can be extremely helpful in supporting the unfolding awareness and insight that develop with a meditation practice. Places where we find ourselves stuck, confused, reactive and in pain can be untangled and moved towards healing. Approaching the tenderness of inner growth with gentle compassion, mindfulness and patience in a supportive therapy can be a critical element on the spiritual journey. I have extensive experience helping people with anxiety, depression, childhood trauma, illness, grief, life transitions and relationships. I work with individuals and couples and can also provide phone sessions. VIPASSANA MEDITATION BACKGROUND I have been exploring the teachings and practice of Buddhism for more than 20 years, completed the Dedicated Practitioners Program, and am currently in the Awakening through the Heavenly Messengers program Spirit Rock. I also attend many classes, daylongs and retreats in Vipassana and Tibetan traditions to support my daily life practice. I have taught classes in Compassionate Mindfulness at Santa Cruz Integrative Medicine and have also taught at Insight Santa Cruz. RELEVANT CLINICAL TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE I received my M.A. in Counseling Psychology from University of San Francisco in 1994 and have been in private practice since that time. Integrated into my work are my ongoing studies of Neuropsychology, Attachment Theory, Internal Family Systems, Contemporary Psychoanalysis, Relational Theories, Buddhist Psychology and Mindfulness-Based Therapy. I have taught psychology at John F. Kennedy University and University of St. Francis. |
