DESCRIPTION OF CLINICAL PRACTICE
For over thirty years, with my clients - older adolescents, individual adults and couples - we co-create a safe space to notice, explore and facilitate an experience of inner connection. I work with the often disparate parts of one's self, paying attention to the many possible causes of suffering- addiction, past and present trauma, relationship conflict and loss - simply being human in this world. And while these often contribute to pervasive pain and discomfort, we move towards them as springboards for deep healing. With a warm and interactive style, I make space to hold past and present experience, with gentle spacious awareness and kindness.
I have attended many Vipassana retreats and daylongs since 2011. My personal practice includes daily sitting, active participation in my sangha as Diversity Committee Chairperson, and several retreats, daylongs and classes every year.
RELEVANT CLINICAL TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
I received my MSW from the University of Michigan in 1981 and have had a private practice since 1985. I am EMDR trained, Level I and II, and I am a Monterey Bay Psychological Association member. I have been influenced by my study of systems theory, contemporary psychoanalysis, mindfulness based psychotherapy and, within the last 5 years, Internal Family Systems - I have taken the Level I, II, and III, as well as the IFIO intensive training.
