I have a general practice working with individual men and women, couples and families. Although I had a very traditional training, I have evolved over the last 20 years to work from a transpersonal or spiritual perspective. I use a combination of techniques, philosophies and understandings I have developed over the years. My Buddhist meditation practice has a strong influence on my work. I use mindfulness as a central focus and tool. I incorporate the Buddha's teachings without necessarily using Buddhist terminology. I believe in the innate desire and ability of people to grow when in an accepting and loving environment, so I help people look for the hindrances that keep them from living a life using their full potential.

I have been practicing Vipassana meditation since 1990 and am a student of Gil Fronsdal. I have completed the Community Dharma Leader 2 training as well as the Sati Center Chaplaincy course. In January 2010 I was ordained a Buddhist minister. From 1986-1990 I practiced Zen. I have done numerous retreats at SRMC as well as other locations. I lead the insight meditation group in San Jose as well as a small group in Morgan Hill and teach at IMC periodically.

Every two years I maintain my 36 hours of continuing education by attending classes usually in the area of Buddhist meditation, Byron Katie's The Work, new discoveries in brain function, mindfulness-based therapy or related fields. I have completed the required courses for the Board in substance abuse, elder abuse, legal and ethical requirements. My masters degree is from San Jose State University. I was a psychiatric nurse for 12 years; have taught at the community college level as well as adult education and led many workshops on a variety of topics.
